What is a Class 5 MOT test?
Class 5 covers larger vehicles than the typical cars and vans that sit in Class 4 and which will also carry more passengers.
These are private passenger vehicles (e.g. minibuses) and ambulances (with between 13 and16 seats for passengers), private passenger vehicles and ambulances with over 16 passenger seats, playbuses, and coaches. Class 5 vehicles with over 13 passenger seats which also require a seatbelt check are classifed as Class 5a. Read more about Class 5 MOTs in our blog.
If your vehicle fails its MOT and requires further repairs, we will do our best to ensure minimal disruption to your transportation plans.
Part of our ongoing service to our customers is a friendly reminder when your MOT is due so you can rest assured your vehicle is always up to date with its MOT.
Did you know your MOT test can be carried out up to one month prior to the expiry date of an existing UK MOT certificate provided that a current MOT certificate is presented to the examiner at the time of the test, effectively providing you with a 13 month MOT? On passing the MOT test, the vehicle will receive a certificate valid from the date of expiry of your existing MOT certificate.
MOT Test while you wait
At Dowleys, we can provide you with an MOT while you wait, usually the MOT test will take between 45 minutes and 1 hour and we have a comfortable waiting area with refreshments and Wi-Fi, where you can watch our mechanics working on your vehicle via the television (we were the first MOT station in Oxfordshire to provide this facility to our customers!).
Free MOT Re-test
The majority of MOTs carried out at Dowleys MOT & Service Centre pass the MOT test first time. However, on occasion it is necessary to carry out some remedial works in order to get the MOT passed.
If this happens and your car does fail the MOT, we will advise you of the repairs required and provide you with a quotation, it is then your choice as to whether you instruct us to proceed with the repairs or you carry them out yourself or you take the vehicle elsewhere.
If your car does fail the MOT, we offer a free MOT RE-TEST, if it is carried out within 10 working days of the original test. This re-test is free even if you have not had the repairs carried out at Dowleys.
