Government pledges £109 million to research future transport solutions

The Government announces it plans to continue to support motorists buying an EV and on top of EV grants it also announced £109 m for research and development into self-driving cars and low-emissions vehicles.

Car dealership ckients will benefit from up to £4,500 off the price of an ultra-low emissions vehicle, up to £2,500 off a hybrid and get £500 towards the fitting of a charge point in their house, the government announced today.

In a jump that aims to encourage the development of low-emission and autonomous vehicles, seven low carbon vehicle R&D projects set to get a share of £62 m funding as part of a new £109 m funding scheme which, the Government has stated, will safeguard employment to the tune of 2,370 jobs.
